FAQ about Linen Saree
Authentic Linen by Linen (100-count) has a distinct matte finish and a slightly "cool" touch. To be sure, look for slubs—small, natural bumps in the thread that occur during the hand-spinning of flax. You can also perform a "Burn Test": a small thread of pure linen will smell like burning grass or paper and leave a soft, grey ash. If it smells like chemicals or melts into a hard bead, it is a synthetic blend.
It depends on your day. Linen Cotton is a sturdy workhorse—it’s easier to maintain and holds its shape longer. However, Linen by Linen is the ultimate luxury for your skin. Because both the warp and weft are pure flax, it is significantly more breathable and absorbent, making it the superior choice for high humidity or long events where comfort is your priority.
In the world of textiles, linen wrinkles are often called "Noble Creases." They are a hallmark of high-quality, natural flax. To manage them while keeping that authentic look, we suggest using a garment steamer instead of a heavy flat iron. Steaming relaxes the fibers without crushing the natural texture. Pro-tip: Hanging your saree in a steamy bathroom for 10 minutes can also help the heaviest creases fall out naturally.
Absolutely. The count refers to the fineness of the yarn. A 60s count is thicker and more rustic, while a 100s count (Linen by Linen) is much finer and more difficult to weave. The higher the count, the softer and more lightweight the saree feels against your skin. We focus on higher counts because we believe quality is something you should feel the moment you drape it.
To preserve the integrity of the handloom weave, we recommend dry cleaning for the first two washes. This helps set the dyes and the weave. Afterward, you can hand wash at home using cold water and a pH-neutral liquid detergent. Never wring the fabric; instead, roll it in a towel to remove excess water and dry it in a shaded, airy spot to prevent the sun from fading the natural fibers.
