FAQ about Muslin Silk Saree
The name "Maslin" is often used for commercial viscose or polyester blends that mimic the softness of the original fabric. Authentic Muslin, however, is a high-count natural fiber (often cotton-silk) known for its extreme lightness and breathability. Our collection focuses on the heritage Muslin weave, which is skin-friendly and much more durable than synthetic imitations.
True Muslin is known for its ethereal transparency. This "sheer" quality is the hallmark of the fabric’s fineness. When draped, the layers overlap to create a graceful, modest silhouette while remaining the most breathable silk in existence. It is designed to feel like a second skin.
Turn the saree over! In an authentic hand-knotted Jamdani, the floral motifs on the back will have slightly uneven thread endings where the weaver hand-tucked the silk. If the back is perfectly smooth or has long "floats" of thread, it is likely a machine-made imitation.
We use high-quality tested zari or pure zari in our Muslin collection to prevent tarnishing. To keep your zari shining, avoid spraying perfume directly on the fabric and store the saree in a cotton or muslin bag to prevent oxidation from the air.
Because of its fine, lightweight nature, Muslin silk requires gentle care. We always recommend professional dry cleaning. If you must store it for a long time, refrain from using plastic covers; instead, wrap it in a soft cloth to let the fibers breathe and prevent them from becoming brittle.
